A team of kind-hearted Mexican bakers left cut off by Hurricane Harvey floodwater decided to spend their time making hundreds of bread loaves to help victims of the disaster.

El Bolillo Bakery employees, in Houston, Texas, were stuck inside the store for two days and “cooked all night long” to provide food for those in need.

“Hurricane Harvey pan dulce – we are going to take [it] to those in need,” they posted on social media. “Bakers were stuck inside for two days!

“Hearts go out to those in danger and those who have lost everything…we are closed until further notice, but our bakers cooked all night long and we will be prepared to help as soon as we can with bread.”

They added in another post: “Some of our employees are still flooded or stranded, the bakers we have, have been baking over 24 hours so far…. so we are doing the best we can to help you get bread. We will be bringing bread to shelters today too.”

Their actions have been praised online, with Maria Salazar commenting: “That’s amazing! It warms my heart to see this.”

Jo Henderson wrote: “You are truly a blessing to our community and city.”

“You shared so much love to those who desperately needed it. Thank you to you wonderful bakers for sharing your wonderful talents with those who need caring so much right now,” wrote another.
